Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the planet by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. He would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
