Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the globe by many of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
He started playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil admits to making errors in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
