Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he could about the game. Phil would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the adverse comments from others kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
He started playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and always strives to improve.
Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
